Product Care
Yarn and garments made of 100% alpaca do not have much ‘memory’ or elasticity in the yarn. A product made of 100% alpaca will loose its shape and size if it is wet and is allowed to dry hanging or out of shape. Alpaca mixed with wool has more elasticity and memory and will be more forgiving in a drying process.
Gentle hand-washing is the best method of cleaning an Alpaca garment, and it will add years to the life of your Alpaca apparel. Machine washing Alpaca garments is not recommended.
1. Gently wash in warm water with mild soap and thoroughly rinse in water of the same temperature.
Special care must be taken as wet Alpaca fabric can weaken and stretch out of shape. Never wring or twist. Gently press excess water from your garment as described below.
2. While supporting the weight of the wet garment, lay it on a dry towel. Ease the garment back into shape and roll it up in the towel. Press to remove excess water. Repeat with another dry towel.
3. Lay the garment on a flat surface and air dry.
4. Fold your dry garment, avoiding a center crease, and store flat.
Dry cleaning may be necessary for garments with stains not removed with washing.
SOCKS: All socks are machine washable in COLD water. Lay flat or line dry.
