Eros is a 3/4 Peruvian male out of the Accoyo herd sire Amador PCA. Eros has great conformation and has inherited his father’s sturcture and regal presence. His fiber qualities are admirable, exhibiting lustre with incredible density and coverage from head to toe.

Eros is a stolid and solid fella with dense fleece and a nice micron count that hasn’t gone up much even with age. His fleece is so dense that we never find any dirt more than 1/4″ into the fleece from the outside on shearing. In 2007 at six years of age his fiber still had a 84% comfort factor. We use his fleece to make fantastic socks.

Eros is well halter trained and has been shown. He is a very calm animal who is willing to take the lead when walking into a new space or loading into a vehicle. When he was younger he did want to be the top male in a group but he always asserted himself the minimum required to accomplish his desired place in the pecking order. Now that he is a little older he will settle happily a lower place in a bachelor herd. We have never seen him pick a fight. Eros especially does not like having his feet messed with and does sometimes kick so we are careful when working on his toenails.

Spring 2011 Eros seemed to have caught meningeal worm. He exhibited weakness and difficulty walking. Health concerns for alpacas are quite different in Massachusetts than in Arizona so we are just finding our way around these issues. He was seen by a vet and was treated aggressively for the worms. He seems to be making an excellent recovery and should be back in good form in time for our spring 2012 breeding.

Stud fees for Eros are $300 – $500 depending upon the travel arrangements and if he goes to you or the female comes to us. Eros is not available until spring 2012 to insure that his health is fully recovered.
